Devils Tower National Monument RV Vacation

About Devils Tower National Monument, Wyoming

Although Devils Tower became the first national monument in the US, dating back to 1906, it is probably more well-known for its part in the 1977 movie “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”. It’s no wonder it is used in a movie about aliens, this creation looks like something from another plane!. The geologic wonder is made of columns rising 1,267 feet above you, so a view from the base is a must-see. Also known as Bears Lodge, it is considered sacred by the Northern Plains Indians and indigenous people and ceremonies are still held here often. Many visitors flock here to climb, hike and star gaze.
