Lake Tahoe, located in the Sierra Nevada range, has the best of both worlds - mountains and lakes. It can be visited year-round, each season bringing a little something different! Most well-known for its downhill ski slopes, winter also brings excellent backcountry skiing, cozy mountain villages and sunny days. But don’t limit your visits to Tahoe to just snow-season, the warmer months mean boating on the lake, abundant hiking trails along the coast or in wide open meadows, and lounging on the beach. Choose to visit the California side, which offers a bit more in terms of outdoor activities, or the Nevada side, where you can try your hand at gambling. Either way, you’ll be astounded at the view of the lake with the mountains rising around it.
